A 60-minute animated Tour of Westport. Hear the history, gossip, stories and yarns as you wander through the streets and laneways of the town. The tour departs from the octagon on Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings at 11.30am.

Westport Playgrounds

Westport has an abundance of outdoor playgrounds for kids of all ages, all with easy access on foot or in the car.


The Pirates Playground at Westport House

Set adjacent to Gracy’s Bar & Café in the Westport House & Pirate Adventure Park, The Pirates Playground is a free facility offering a slide, climbing frames and rockers to entertain. Nearby, you’ll find the Pirates Den indoor soft play area, pitch & putt, table tennis and of course, the Pirate Adventure Park.


The Children’s Playground at the Leisure Centre

It is an excellent facility set in the centre of town, just off James Street. It is enthusiastically used by children of all ages providing climbing frames, swings, rockers, slides and a pretty adjacent green area.


The Bogfield Playground, Golf Course Road

Westport’s newest playground provides for a fantastic facility including swings, slides and rockers as well as more innovative zipwire, climbing frames, games and puzzles. Plenty to engage and entertain!


Westport Skate Park Playground

Another brand-new playground right beside Westport Skate Park and the Westport Greenway. This has the added attraction of the skate park and astroturf pitch next door, perfect for older children.


Westport Skate Park

Westport’s new state-of-the-art skate park and games area is right beside the Westport Greenway (also known locally as the Railway Line Walk) at the junction of the Louisburgh and Leenane roads.

In addition to the purpose-built skateboarding and rollerblading area, this facility has an astro turf pitch which can be used for basketball, soccer, volleyball, camogie, hurling, gaelic football and rugby.

A brand-new playground has also been built beside the skate park, giving yet another outdoor activity option for the young and young at heart and making this a perfect place for family fun.

The area has ample seating and a car park and is right beside recently extended walking and cycling trail the Westport Greenway. The Greenway route is a dedicated off-road trail running from Westport town centre to the Quay and connects with cycle routes to Murrisk and Croagh Patrick.

Atlantic Adventure Centre (Lecanvey) 

This is a purpose built outdoor pursuits facility, seeking to develop the personal development of young people. The types of courses vary from water sports to dry land activities. All safety equipment for water sports such as wet suits, buoyancy aids, etc, will be provided, along with helmets and harnesses for rock climbing. Prices depend on the duration of the course.

Activities include canoeing, windsurfing, topper sailing, bogie boarding, pier jumping, rock climbing, abseiling, hill walking, mountain climbing, orienteering, shore fishing and overnight canoe trips.

Foot Golf Mayo 

FootGolfMayo is a foot golf facility located 4km from Westport Co Mayo. Footgolf was invented in Holland in 2009 and is a combination of two of the world's most popular sports football and golf.

Footgolf is one of the fastest growing sports in the world with nine countries affiliated to the international federation. The first world cup was held in Hungary last year. It is very new to Ireland with just two facilities in the whole country.

The aim of the game is kick a football from the tee to an oversized hole in the least amount of shots, its that simple.

Kiltimagh Pet Farm 

Kiltimagh Wildlife park & Pet Farm is located in the West of Ireland with excellent views and surroundings.
