Wedding Ceremonies ~ Westport House

Congratulations – you’re ready to tie the knot!

The Front Hall provides a stunning backdrop for a ceremony – our marble staircase provides a beautiful environment with the happy couple and the celebrant standing under the Angel of Welcome with family and friends standing all around them on the two arms of the stairs, the balcony above as well as in the entrance hall.  It really lends itself to an involving the whole group in the celebration which only adds to the special nature of the event.

Alternatively, we can offer the Drawing Room with its sky-blue, hand-painted ceiling and antique parquet floors seating 70 people.  The Dining Room is the most formal room in the house and seats 80 people.  And finally, the Long Gallery can set up to 120 people comfortably.

For an outdoor wedding ceremony that will not be matched anywhere, our west-facing terraces overlook the lake out towards Clew Bay.

It is important to note that we are not yet licenced for civil ceremonies in Westport House as we are still working on getting wheelchair access into the House.  However, we have had wedding parties hold a blessing for friends and family.  Alternatively, our sister property Hotel Westport has been approved as a venue for the solemnisation of a Civil Marriage by the Civil Registration Service and can cater from 5 people to 350 people in a number of locations through the hotel and grounds.
