This initiative which was the brainchild of the Irish Hotels Federation and the Hotel Industry ensures that you the employee receive the very best in employment practices and treatment in line with International Best Practice. It includes opportunities for structured and ongoing training and career progression. For the guest it ensures that they receive the highest quality of service and guest care.
Trainee Management Development Programme
Hotel Westport has been accredited and involved in training managers since 1996 and currently have graduates of the programme working in senior and management positions within the Hotel. This programme is mainly Industry Based, whereby over the three years the trainee gains hands on experience in each department. The academic side of the programme is managed by Fáilte Ireland and the Hotel School at Tralee institute of Technology on a block release basis. Hotel Westport supports the students with a full time wage, and help towards fees and expenses for the duration of the programme together with mentoring by previous graduates and senior managers. A pass Leaving Certificate or equivalent to include English and Mathematics (minimum) with some industry experience are essential for entry to the programme.
Training & Progression
All employees receive structured training particular to their needs and you get regular feedback on progress both formally and informally through our in house Progress Reviews. mMany of our existing Senior and Management people began their careers at Hotel Westport. Through their hard work, dedication and professional training from Fáilte Ireland and other educational bodies they have progressed their careers here. We at Hotel Westport are committed to continuing our promise to facilitate and provide opportunities for career development.
